يقف «إيثار» اليوم كرمزٍ معماريٍّ ومساحةٍ حيّةٍ للتأمّل والتعلّم والتواصل المجتمعي. صُمِّم وفق قيم البساطة والتواضع والاستمرارية، حيث تعبّر الأعمدةُ المتفاوتةُ الارتفاع عن أن كل إسهامٍ، كبيرًا كان أو صغيرًا، يحمل قيمةً في فسيفساءِ المعرفةِ المشتركةِ. وانسجامًا مع الرؤية الوطنية لدولة الإمارات في مجالات الثقافة والتعليم والتراث، يربط «إيثار» بين عطاءات الماضي ومسؤوليات الحاضر، ويدعو الأجيالَ القادمةَ إلى النظر إلى المعرفة كهديةٍ، وإلى الكرم كواجبٍ إنسانيٍّ، وإلى التاريخ كحوارٍ متواصلٍ مع المستقبل. يستمدُّ المشروع اسمه من المعنى العربي «آثَرَ» - أي فضَّل الغير على النفس - ليجسِّد روح الكرم والعطاء، وهي قيمة راسخة في الهوية الإماراتية والتقاليد الإسلامية.
Anchored in simplicity and humility, the design uses varying column heights to represent contributions both great and modest within a shared landscape of knowledge. In line with the UAE’s national vision for culture, education, and heritage, ETHAR connects past contributions with present responsibility, inviting future generations to see knowledge as a gift and generosity as a shared duty. Derived from the Arabic root “Āthara” (آثَرَ) – to give precedence to others over oneself. ETHAR embodies the spirit of generosity without expectation, deeply embedded in Emirati identity and Islamic tradition.
وُلِدت فكرة «إيثار» عام 2017 خلال «عام الخير» في دولة الإمارات، حين دعت المبادرة الوطنية الأفراد والعائلات والمؤسسات إلى ترسيخ قيمة العطاء في الحياة العامة. في ذلك العام، وضع ياسر بن خدية الرؤية التأسيسية لـ«إيثار» بوصفه هديةً خالدةً للمجتمع والأجيال القادمة، ومعلماً ثقافياً يجسّد قيم الكرم والمنفعة العامة ويخلّد إرث العلماء والمفكرين عبر الزمن.
The idea for ETHAR was first conceived in 2017, during the UAE’s Year of Giving. This national initiative encouraged individuals, families, and institutions to embed generosity into public life. At that time, Yasser Bin Khediya laid the foundational vision for ETHAR as a lasting gift to society and future generations. He envisioned a cultural landmark that would embody the values of generosity, while preserving the legacy of scholars for generations to come.
يقع «إيثار» في «حديقة خور دبي»، مندمجًا ضمن امتدادٍ عامٍّ تاريخيٍّ، يضيف معلمًا ثقافيًّا معاصرًا على ضفاف الخور.
Situated within Dubai Creek Park, ETHAR forms part of the city’s historic public landscape, adding a contemporary cultural monument to the shores of Dubai’s vital waterway.
مستوحى من حركات الحقول المغناطيسية، تجسّد أعمدة «إيثار» قيم البساطة والتواضع والاستمرارية في نسق متناغم يصنع فسحةً للتأمل، حيث يرمز التكرار إلى وحدة العطاء ويعلو أثر الذاكرة الجماعية فوق الاعتراف الفردي. تتجه الأعمدة نحو الساحة كما لو كانت خاضعةً لمجال مغناطيسي، فتوجّه مقاطعها المثلثة حركة الزوار نحو مركزٍ مشترك.
OMA مكتب معماري عالمي معروف برؤيته الواضحة وتصاميمه المؤثرة، أسسه المعماري ريم كولهاس، ويعمل اليوم عبر شبكة مكاتب دولية حول العالم. في مشروع «إيثار»، صُممت أعمدة الألمنيوم لتتجه تدريجيًا نحو ساحة مركزية، بحيث تقود الزائر بسلاسة إلى قلب المشروع، في تجربة تعبّر عن الحركة، والتلاقي، والمعنى المشترك للمعرفة.
Inspired by the movements of magnetic fields. The columns are arranged in a harmonious formation, to create a contemplative space where repetition symbolizes unity of contribution and collective memory takes precedence over individual recognition. The columns orient toward the plaza, as if guided by a magnetic field, directing visitors toward a shared center.
OMA is a leading international architecture and urbanism practice founded by Rem Koolhaas, operating through a global network of offices. For ETHAR, OMA draws on movement and magnetism, designing aluminum columns that migrate toward a central plaza, guided by invisible forces and expressed through shifting densities and controlled height variation.
